It is the hand of God that is stretched out to you O sinner, and that hand holds out a gift to you. It is the of God himself that says whoever wants can take of the water of life freely. That is all. It is a duty as well as permission, let him take; He gives. Could life everlasting could be brought closer to us? Could the fullness of love of God’s pardon be made easier or more free? What then will we call these things? Will we take the gift? Or, will we refuse it? It must be one of them. What is it to be this day? O man, this good news is held out for you. Pardon, or condemnation, God sets them both before you. Which of them will you choose? Remember, what did the Lord himself say, to the hearers when he was on Earth? If you will not believe that I am he, you will die in sin(s). If you believe that I am he, what then? Isn’t eternal life in the answer? For he who has the son has life everlasting.
